I am so excited to start this event! This Cape Epic is going to be so different to last year’s race. From the technical terrain aspect and having had the opportunity to pre-ride over 60% of the course, I feel so much more prepared. There are no nerves in anticipation of the unknown, rather sparks of excitement for what’s to come! I am in love with the racing lifestyle. Traveling, diving head first into extremely difficult events, and coming out stronger is exactly what I start for! I am going to give this Epic my everything, and come out with even more.
My 2020 Epic is going to be an honest journey. I will to grow from strength to strength, focusing on one day at a time. I will find out more about myself by testing my core beliefs. I will stay present and focused and absorb everything that is happening to me in that moment.
I want to show myself that there is strength in vulnerability, and there is room for it at a race like this. I will not be ashamed of myself for feeling beaten, broken, and bruised by the race environment.
Each day I will be proud of how I showed up and faced my biggest demons, overcame them and added a new chapter to my journey of growth. My 2020 Epic will test what true, authentic performance looks like. I will tell my story of how I overcame heartbreak, and rediscovered self-worth, self-confidence and self-belief through the one way I know how to express myself… riding my bike.
